Did you watch Family Ties back in the day? Well, I did. It was a sitcom show about the Keaton family. Michael J. Fox was one of the kids in the show. I was reading an article about him in Reader's Digest. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease at 30. He has had his ups and downs with the disease and has a couple of books out. They printed an excerpt from his new book. A couple of things stuck out to me. He said, "I realized that the only choice not available to me was whether or not I had Parkinson's. Everything else was up to me." I like that. It is the same with my MS. I did not choose this, but I can choose what I will or will not do with my life.
He also said, "Don't spend a lot of time imagining the worst-case scenario. It rarely goes down as you imagine it will, and if by some fluke it does, you will have lived it twice." I think that it a good thought. It also made me laugh a little. The part about living it twice. I am trying to live this way, but sometimes it is hard to do. I have read about lots of things that can happen with MS. However, I have also read about how it doesn't always happen that way. I need to focus on what IS going on with me and not what might be. I pray I stay focused on Jesus, knowing that He will not give me more than I can handle.

Been getting caught up on your blog. Really enjoyed hearing about the family and the pictures are great. Glad you are enjoying your time at home with the children. Goodness, they are growing up so fast! They are so fortunate to have you for a Mom! Wow, the reward Travis received at work was awesome! Happy you all got to go and had a great time. He must have a very NICE boss! I truly understand what you are talking about on the focus of your disease. When I had to have the fluid removed from around my heart, I was scared. I knew this might come about some time. The Lord seen me through this. I had peace that he was there with me. Whatever will be, will be...but it is our Lord who makes the difference! You are a very strong Christian woman who is trusting the Lord...He will see you through this! Keep up the good writing, take care, & we love you very much!
Thanks, Pat. I love you, too!
So, I don't have a disease, but my husband does. Being that I am very close in the situation, I too, have let my mind wander. Not trying to put myself in your shoes AT ALL, just trying to tell you I understand somewhat. It's good for all of us to live in the moment and not the "what if's" who knows what any of our lives hold!! Just have to trust. I think your attitude is great ;)
I loved Family Ties!!
I can't imagine what your mind must go thru on a daily basis, but I do know that now matter what, Jesus is the giver of life and gives us grace and mercy everyday! I love these two quotes and will help pray that you can stay positive. :) I think you are absolutely great!!!
