Library Fun

We went to the library the other day because Junie B. Jones was there. She is a character in a line of books. They had Junie there with her bus and her bus driver.

She had her big pink trunk of junk with her and had a little show and tell of all the things in it.

After that we went outside and saw Junie's bus. They had popsicles and a craft and bubbles.

They also had balloon animals. The girls got rabbits and my boy got a freeze ray.

We had a fun time. I really do love the library. It is truly one of my favorite places. :)

"Dancing" Raisins

I did an experiment with the kids the other day. I found it online. It was called dancing raisins. The site I found it one gave simple directions. It said to find a tall glass and fill it 1/4 with water.

Then add 4 tablespoons of vinegar.

Add 3 teaspoons of baking soda.

Then add 5 raisins and watch them dance!

Actually they collect little bubbles and rise to the surface. When they get to the surface the bubbles pop and they sink again. It also worked better on small raisins. The big ones stayed on the bottom.

It was a lot of fun to try. We had the most fun adding more and more vinegar and baking soda. I am hoping to try several experiments that I have seen on different blogs and Pinterest. Anyone have any fun experiments I can add to my list?

Jeff Fest 2012

It was time for our downtown little festival over the weekend. They have booths set up with different local businesses. They have food, music, face painting, games.  Here is my nephew climbing up a big bouncy slide.

And sliding down!

There was lots of shade in the park. It also wasn't too hot. My oldest was in charge of taking pictures. She did a pretty good job. She is taking a photography class next year in high school.

Crazy kid

Cute kid

 Another two cuties

Some more of our crew

I wonder where my son gets his ideas to make crazy pictures...

They also had the pony rides again, too.

And around this point my camera died. I didn't charge my batteries long enough. And I also found a lot of other pictures on my camera when I got home. We were early to Jeff Fest so we went into a local store. There are several pictures like these. I think my little photographers got a little photo happy.

Ok, so I took this one. :)

We had a good time. Next year I'll remember to charge my batteries longer so we can take all the fun, and crazy, pictures we want!

Homemade Pizza

We like to buy french bread from the store and make pizzas with it. They are very yummy and easy to make. I cut the bread all the way down the middle and then cut those pieces in half. Then I put the pieces in the oven to toast the bread a bit. I've found that helps the bread not get too soggy from the sauce.

After the bread is toasted, add your sauce, cheese and toppings. I like these because everyone can make their own and add whatever they want.

Then you put them back in the oven until the cheese is all melted. I bake mine on 400 for around 10 minutes I think. Sometimes if the bread is thick my kids like to cut it up in smaller pieces. I always just pick it up and eat it. We have cut the bread a little thinner on some of the super thick loaves we have found. I am a big bread lover, so I usually don't. :)

Blog Off: What's in Your Purse?

Blog off time again! This time it is what is in your purse. So here it goes. It ain't pretty, but here it is. I am not very organized. I tend to just put stuff in there and forget about it.  I like my purse. I found it at Target. It has an adjustable strap that I like. I found a cute flower to put on it from a craft store, but I haven't put it on yet.

And here's the part that isn't pretty.  I have multiple pens, keys, medicine, hand sanitizer, gift cards. One of the gift card is from Christmas. I have a zip top bag of safety pins that I threw in there for the mini marathon. You do the math of how long that's been. :) Upper left is my calendar. I have loose papers in there with camp schedules, summer movies, my husband schedule, etc. Bottom left if a steno pad that I use all the time for various things. Bottom right is a pile of papers ranging from bills and receipts to school papers.

Here is a look at last month in my calendar. I love my calendar and use it all the time. We are a little busy! See the camp schedule and a free yogurt coupon is trying to sneak out. :)

All my fellow blogger who blogged their purses first may want to look away. Here is my beauty supply pile. My daughter's hair things, my lipstick and fingernail clippers.

And at this point my camera died. I was going to show you a closer look at my wallet. My mother-in-law made it for me for Christmas. I really like it. It has lots of pockets. I was going to show you the inside. Oh well. This has been a fun topic. Now I need to go put everything back!

Summer Movie

The local theaters show kid movies during the summer.  Last year they were free and this year there is a small charge. We left early because last year they got pretty full. When we arrived the bubble truck was there. The bubble truck is a guy that comes to parties and events with bubbles coming off his truck and buckets of bubble solution and different wands.  The kids were very excited.

Even the teenager was making bubbles. :)

It's hard to see, but the bubble man was making really, really big bubbles.

We went on in to see the movie Rio. I had not seen it yet. It turned out to be a really cute movie. The kids went straight to the front row. I don't remember ever liking to sit in the front row, but I really don't like to now. I'm getting old I guess. I told the kids they could sit in the front if they would stay together. I went to sit higher up. I decided to go all the way to the top. My thought process was that no other tiny kids would be sitting behind me kicking my seat. (See, told you I am getting old!) It was while I was sitting there, enjoying the quiet before the movie started, that the thought hit me that I may look like a bit creepy. Someone just sitting by themselves in a kid's movie.  Yep, creeper. Oh well, no one gave me the stink eye so I guess I was ok. I think it may have been a different story though if it was a man sitting alone in a kids movie. Just a thought.

Unofficial Start of Summer

We had a great time camping last weekend.  I forgot my camera, so I am hoping my mother-in-law will post some pics that I can use with a camping post later. The only bad part was that the temperatures were in the 90s and somehow we caught a stomach bug. Not everyone caught it (Praise the Lord!) but this has been what 3 out of 5 of my little family has looked like.

The couch is closer to the bathroom and they get to watch some t.v. with their favorite pillow and blanket.  The dog was very concerned about all the sick people. He would just lay with them. It was cute.  Thankfully it has hit them one at a time and not all at once. We usually go camping the same weekend every year. The past two years someone has gotten sick. I think we need to choose a new campground for next year! :)
