Blogging with Friends

A few of my friends are discussing the same topic in their blogs again. This time the topic is favorite foods and places to eat. Who doesn't love food?? So, here it goes and in no particular order.

Fruit & things that have to do with fruit. Strawberries and strawberry shortcake, strawberry rhubarb pie. Apples, apple pie, cobbler. Bananas and banana pudding, banana bread. Do you get where this is going? I love fruits.

I also love most types of bread. Rolls, biscuits, crescents, etc. I especially love a good piece of corn bread still warm from the oven. Mmmm! Oh yes, and my hubby would be shocked if I didn't mention one more. I also love toast. I can eat it at anytime of the day. I often eat it for a late night snack.

I love most anything that I can eat back home. I love it when my mom and grandma and any of my Tennessee family cooks. I’m sure that part of it is the atmosphere and wonderful memories that goes along with it. And it is cooked with love. (Everybody say, “Awww!”)

Places I love to eat…O’Charley’s for their Potato Soup with rolls. They also serve a pretty good grilled cheese with bacon and tomato.

Taco Bell. I like the food and I like that I can eat for well under $5. Yes, I like to be...cheap... er uh... frugal.

McDonald’s sweet tea when it is sweet. I'm a southern girl who likes her tea sweet.

I’m gonna stop there, because I could go on and on all day. Like I said before, who doesn't love food??

Holiday World

We had a great time at Holiday World a while back. We had a pretty large group with a wide range in ages. I was very anxious about the trip. I was very worried about everyone not having a good time and people getting upset with each other. But on the way up there, I prayed about it and talked it through with my hubby. And when we got there I was feeling very calm. I am working on not being overly concerned about everyone else. I know it is a good thing to a point, but I do it too much. I end up having a bad time because I am too worried about everyone else.

Anyways, we had an AWESOME time. I had never been there before. We went close to open and did the rides first. It wasn't as hot as I thought it would be. It was still pretty hot. We were more than ready when we decided to go to the water part. It was a very nice park for all ages. They had several rides that the little ones could do in both the regular park and the water park in addition to the bigger rides.

Waiting on our tickets

Sunscreen in the eyes

Fun Rides

We didn't get any water park pictures. But it was really fun, too.

And a good time was had by all. Here we are headed home.

Secret

Can I tell you a not-so-secret secret? I would love to be a storm chaser! I know sounds crazy, but it's true. I don't like the damage that they do, but I do think that the storms are fascinating. There is talk going on of funnel clouds right across the river. And I'm thinking it would be neat to go outside and see them. However, I am a mother of three and a wife of one. I will stay inside and be good. But if I knew without a doubt that I would be safe, I would love to be a storm chaser. Go ahead with your comments and tell me I'm crazy. It's ok, I'm used to it. ;)

Church Camp

The kids and I just got back from a great week at church camp. My boy was actually a camper and the girls were my helpers. We had most of the week with 4th and 5th graders and we had one day with some wonderful preschoolers.

There was food.

There was fun.

And, of coarse, there was worship.

We had a great week. It is really special to see these kids worship. I love it!

Jeff Fest

We had a festival downtown a while back. It was lots of fun. It had tons of activities for the kids.

Bouncy Things

Pony Rides

Balloon Animals

Free Trolley Rides

Face Painting

We had a great time. As an added bonus it wasn't extremely hot that day either. :)

Start of Summer Break

Summer break officially started for us today. Wahoo! The first thing we did was to go to the library. We signed up for the summer reading program. We also watched an animal program at the library. The summer reading program has an around the world theme, so the animals were from around the world.

First up was a Salmon Pink Bird Eater Tarantula.

Next was a legless lizard.

Big snake, maybe python. I forget. And funny story about the snake. The kid on the far right was holding the tail end of the snake. She started to wrap her tail around his leg. The kid wasn't scared at all. He thought it was funny.

This is a mongoose named Rikki Tikki Tavi. I was telling Little Bit about reading a story about a mongoose named Rikki Tikki Tavi. So after the animal show we went up and checked out the book.

This is a kind of Toucan. The paper towel is supposed to catch, well, you know. And as the kids in the front row pointed out, it didn't work.

And the last animal was a baby wallaby. It was super cute.

It was an awesome first day of summer break. Looking forward to a fun filled summer!

Kindergarten Graduation

This was the first day of school back in August. Seems like just yesterday. (Happy sigh)

And here is my little baby on her last day of school.

She had her graduation this morning and then she was allowed to come home with us. There is one more day of school for my big kids. I didn't cry while I watched her program. I wanted to some of the time. Like before they got to the gym and after it was over and we went back to her classroom. I was good though during her program. I think I was just so excited to see her in her little cap and gown.

She had a big cheering section.

We found brother in the hallway.

And after we celebrated with an ice cream.

I am so proud of my big girl. She has learned so much this year. She worked with great teachers. I pray she continues to love learning all of her life as much as she has this year. We are so blessed to have her in our family.

My Life-The Musical

From time to time, I have thought it would be fun if sometimes people just started singing during the day. Like you are at the store and everyone around you starts singing about the great sale you just found on a new purse. And just like in a musical, everyone knows the words and acts like it is natural to be singing with total strangers in the store. I was thinking this yesterday when there was a musical on tv. Just a thought, what kind of songs would be in the musical of your life?
